Ⅰ．トピック的な研究のご紹介

多施設臨床試験データの収集にWeb技術を活用することを世界で初めて論文で提案いたしました。

1996年当時の臨床試験のオンラインデータ収集(EDC=Electronic Data Capture)は、電話回線を用いて、CUI(Character User Interface)で実施されるのが通常でした。 インターネットやWebの普及ははじまっていたもののセキュリティの問題があり、EDC目的には使えないものとみなされていたのです。 下記論文１は、Webの技術であるHTML(Hypertext Markup Language)とHTTP(Hypertext Transfer Protocol)を用いてEDCを実施すること提案した世界で最初の論文です。 また下記論文２は、Webを用いた症例報告書を自動生成するツールについての論文です。 通信回線としては、電話回線とインターネットのどちらでも活用が可能と想定しています。文献3のような特許が、米国とEUで成立しています（日本では成立していません）。 論文１は、この特許をつぶすための根拠として使われました。 特許を取得したDatasci LLCが、EDCベンダーのMedidata Solutions、OmniComm Systems、Covance Inc.、Phase Forward Inc.、eTrials Worldwide Inc.、Quintles Transnational Corp.を訴えました。 EDCベンダーの実施していた治験が差し止めになる可能性があることから、結局和解をしてしまったようです。
